Web Design

Charleston Elementary School Web Site

Client: Charleston Elementary School

This is the parent site to my other interactive pieces. This site is powered by the open source Drupal CMS. My involvement was in management of the system, and customization. The themes and content I created for this CMS required knowledge of HTML,CSS, and PHP. The graphics (logo and other site design elements) were all done by myself using my Photoshop and Flash skills.

Charleston Elementary School for Kids

Client: Charleston Elementary School

This is a more kid friendly sister site to the previous site. It was designed and developed with the intent of presenting non academic information to elementary school students in a way that they could more easily relate to. The page uses HTML, CSS and Flash (the flash portion consists of only what is on the screen of the monitor). HTML graphics were created in Photoshop and all elements in the flash portion were created using Flash.

Instruments of the Orchestra

Client: Charleston Elementary School Music Dept.

This is an application that is to be embedded into the music page on the parent site. It was developed using Flash, Actionscript 3 and XML. The stock photography is from Fotolia.com. Before this course is done, fully licensed, non-watermarked versions will be purchased to replace the existing images.

Mrs S' Great Notes App

Client: Charleston Elementary School

This is an application that was created for Mrs S (the music teacher and my wife :) ). Mrs S has a running contest amongst the classes (they all visit music throughout the week). Every class can receive one great note per visit if they collectively behave well. This app is meant to display records to any visitor. The roadmap for this application includes tackling Drupal module development, fully implementing user authentication and adding new records. For now this is a sandboxed version that showcases the application's front end.

Roy Waldron Elementary Library

Client: Roy Waldron Elementary School

This web site makes extensive use of PHP, Flash/Actionscript. Unlike the Charleston Elementary school site, this one was created entirely by me (by hand) and uses XML as a database substitute for MySQL. Another point of interest is the working calendar application created with PHP. This site has not gone live yet since the school runs microsoft servers and are not willing to install PHP. I'm currently discussing alternatives with the librarian.
